I have the very fondest memories of the kindness and brilliance of Page from many personal transactions. He told me he had been the starting Quarterback for his beloved North Carolina State University. I went out and found the following photo which Page claimed to have not seen for many years. Industry fondly remembers Page Ashby, CCW founder

GAFFNEY, S.C. – Page Bryan Ashby, founder of Carolina Cotton Works (CCW), based here, is fondly remembered by his family and industry colleagues in the textile industry, where he spent his 50-plus-year career. He died peacefully at home on October 25 at age 76 after a courageous battle with cancer.
“It has been a privilege to witness great leadership over the past 25 years,” said his son Bryan Ashby, vice president at CCW. “Dad was tough but fair. He taught me the responsibility that comes with running a business. He also taught me what sacrificial love of family is all about.”
“He was a true visionary and a great leader,” added his other son, Hunter, plant manager at the company.
Stacey Bridges, the company’s sales manager, said he “grew up with Page, Hunter and Bryan.”
“When he hired me in 1994, I remember him telling me two things,” Bridges said. “The first was that his plan was to work as payback for the headaches I caused him as a teenager. The second was not to worry about what I didn’t know about fabric and garment dyeing, that he would teach me everything I needed to know. Through the years, he definitely taught me everything I needed to know about our industry. But the details of our business and industry are not the most important things I learned. Page was my role model as a business owner and father. I learned that integrity is the most important thing you can have as both a business owner and father.” Read More
