AAPN Member YKK Tackles Plastic Waste with Zippers Made From Recycled Bottles

Member Spotlight 1 min read

AAPN members are some of the most conscious in the industry. The latest example of that is the brand new zipper AAPN member YKK will be debuting at the 2019 Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Denver, CO this week.

The NATULON zipper is crafted using discarded PET bottles and old fiber remnants. The company says that 10,000 NATULON zippers of 60 cm length recycle approximately 3,600 plastic bottles (29 g/bottle), which is a lot of waste saved from the landfills.

As the one of the world's best known zipper manufacturers, YKK zippers are used in a huge variety of apparel and other items and so the potential for these innovative 'green' zippers is huge. Well done, YKK.
